COLUMBUS — “It appears pretty certain that renewable energy will be on the Ohio General Assembly’s plate this session, based on comments from new Senate President Larry Obhof, a Medina Republican, and re-elected House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger, a Republican from Clarksville.
The two men spoke to reporters Tuesday, the first day of the new legislative session and less than a week after Gov. John Kasich vetoed the previous General Assembly’s attempt to extend a freeze on renewable energy mandates on investor-owned utilities in the state.
‘I think we do need a long-term energy plan, one that is consistent and stable and that doesn’t bounce back and forth from one end of the spectrum to another,’ Obhof told reporters.
…Rosenberger was more brief in his comments.
‘The governor clearly spoke on the renewable energy standards,” he told reporters. “I think there will be a longer conversation about our entire energy climate here in the state of Ohio that regards not only renewable energy but other areas and we’re going to be open and eager for those conversations and working with the Senate and the administration on what that may look like.'”
