COLUMBUS — “At issue are the rules governing state standards for renewable energy and energy efficiency. Ohio adopted the standards with a 2008 law, requiring electricity utilities to meet annual benchmarks, including buying a certain amount of power made from renewable sources.

A 2014 bill placed a two-year freeze on the standards and made other changes to the rules, a move that Minor said was “playing games and playing politics with our future.”

The rally was organized by Ohio Interfaith Power and Light along with other state and national religious and environmental organizations. Several of the participants planned to spend the afternoon meeting with legislators.

Michele Timmons of Reynoldsburg was there representing Moms Clean Air Force, a group that campaigns to reduce air pollution. Her son, 13, has chronic asthma.”
