Ohio Citizen Action member Judy Rosman and her son Evan gave great testimony today on HB 554.
COLUMBUS — “Republican state lawmakers say they are determined to pass new limits on Ohio’s clean-energy standards, despite the approaching end of the legislative session and a possibility of a veto by the governor.
Opponents of the limits responded with a show of force on Tuesday, with officials from more than 60 businesses and advocacy groups telling a Senate committee that the proposals are bad for the economy and environment.
…There are two plans being considered: House Bill 554 and Senate Bill 320. While they differ to some extent, both would make the renewable energy standards optional for the next three years and weaken requirements for energy efficiency. Both plans also would allow businesses to opt out of electricity bill charges that pay for the programs.
Supporters of the proposals say that the standards should not resume because of high costs, particularly for businesses.”
